I found this new magazine last night. It immediately caught my eye. Well...you may say the cover pilot did it. But this is really a nice magazine. It has articles like politics, economy and business, just like an Economist. You can also find articles like design, culture and architecture, the way GQ did it. Besides, can you imagine an Economist with Wallpaper-style photos and graphics? When you read this book, you would read in the "WOW. "
In a nutshell, it's a stylish male magazine targeted on readers who doesn't like to chat about what the latest cosmetics Clarins has or where GUCCI promotes its 2007 spring/summer collection. Some articles in its latest/first issue are:
1.China in Africa
2.Questioning Chile's Finance Minister
3.Germany's happiest wine exporter
4.On air in Afghanistan
5.Beauty school in Taipei
I do hope this magazine can make a profit by targeting this segment. The only drawback is that the advertisement is still in GQ style, like perfume, watches, fashion, etc. I prefer an Economist in GQ way, not a GQ in Economist way.
